Workshop Topic:
Walking in Nature for Health and Happiness
This workshop provides the scientific context of walking mindfully in nature – specifically the rainforest. The research that the workshop will be grounded in follows from the National University of Singapore’s Therapeutic Rainforest Program, initiated by the Mind Science Centre (MSC). Participants will engage in activities that will introduce them to Mindful Walking, as well as deepen their understanding of how the rainforest provides therapeutic effects. They will also be shown evidence of the numerous benefits from the findings of the MSC’s Nature and Mindful Awareness Study, which indicated improvements in physical and mental health, social health, interest in nature as well as compassion.
