Workshop Topic:
The Future of Mindfulness: Innovative and Grounded Ways to Enhance Wellness over Generations
This presentation will focus on innovation in the mindfulness field, with an eye towards mindfulness research and scientist/teacher training. It will highlight recent research findings in areas such as mindfulness adaptions for young adults, cardiovascular disease risk reduction, and indigenous and Black populations. It will also address experiences in training the next generation of mindfulness scientists and teachers at an Ivy League University (Brown University), through building a Master of Public Health program concentration in Mindfulness, and a Mindfulness-Base Stress Reduction teacher training certificate program. This is a remarkable time in history to not only support current generations’ resilience and wellness, but also to train future generations in evidence-based mindfulness education and science.
