Workshop Topic:
Mindful Art Through Zentangle
Come learn about how mindfulness can be practiced through art!
Zentangle is an art form to create miniature pieces of unplanned, abstract art from a variety of simple, structured patterns called tangles. Zentangle art pieces are not only beautiful, they are fun and relaxing to create.
The process of Zentangle is a form of “artistic meditation” as one becomes completely engrossed in making each pattern, deliberately focusing on one stroke at a time. The creativity options and pattern combinations are boundless, and anyone can do it!
Practising Zentangle increases focus and creativity, provides satisfaction along with an increased sense of personal well being.
Art mosaic created from 9 pieces of Zentangle art.
To enjoy this workshop, you will need to have the following materials, which can be obtained from Overjoyed or other local art stores:
- 2B pencil
- Pen (Sakura black micron 01 or equivalent)
- Tortillon (a blending stump) or a cotton bud
- 3 pieces of watercolour paper (hotpressed) or other smooth art paper. It would be good that each piece of watercolour paper is a square of 9 to 10 cm in length, or postcard-sized. Alternatively, you can buy a larger sheet of watercolour paper and cut it up into these sizes.
